Prayer Request
from Earl Roemer - 11/1/01
Prayers are requested
for Robert Nixon. He is going to have surgery Wednesday morning, October 31st, to have his
stomach removed.
The doctor's found something they think is cancer and need to remove it immediately.
We will find out later this week if it is cancerous and whether it has spread
beyond his stomach. Mr. Nixon and his wife Chiyoko are long-time members of the Church of
God, originally from the Portland, Oregon area. They now live near Hilo in Hawaii. He
doesn't seem to be in any pain and is still joking around.
There are some brethren on the island but it's a large island and people are spread out so
Mrs. Nixon feels a little isolated. We'd appreciate everyone's prayers for him to be
healed.

Joyce Seelig, mother of
Gerald Seelig, died at her home in Marion, Texas, Friday, October 26, after a battle with
cancer. Fortunately, Mrs. Seelig didn't suffer for an extended period of time and
her mind was clear throughout her illness. She was with family members when she
died. Joyce Seelig will be greatly missed by her family and the San Antonio congregation
where she is known for her love and service towards others.

Marie Wann, my wife
Andrea's mother, had a stroke on Saturday night, October 20th. She will be 82 in December.
Marie is a long-time church member. She heard Mr. Herbert Armstrong on the radio in 1945.
She continued to drive one hour from her home in Oklahoma to church in Fort Smith,
Arkansas, up until the day before her stroke. She liked to be the first one at church and
the last one to leave.
The stroke has left weakness on the right side. But the main area that we ask all of you
to pray about is her ability to speak and comprehend. The stroke has caused her to not be
able to process what you mean when you ask her to do something; as well as, effecting her
ability to tell you what she wants to say. Her vision has also been impaired.
Marie has always been a motivated person and she is working hard now to regain her
physical ability to take care of herself and will be working hard with the speech
therapist to regain her ability to speak. But she really needs God's extra help to go
beyond what she can do for herself.

Mrs. Evelyn Soriano
mother of 23 year old Tanya is requesting prayers for the healing of her daughter who was
admitted at the Makati Medical Center more than two weeks ago and was diagnosed of kidney
failure. Tanya has undergone several haemodialysis since then and she is scheduled for
kidney transplant in six months if efforts to revive her kidneys would fail. Mrs.
Soriano lost her husband and a son to drowning two years ago and is presently feeling
quite depressed with the present condition of her daughter. She herself is suffering from
hypertension as a result. I had anointed Tanya twice during the last two weeks in the
hospital and they would appreciate the collective prayers of the brethren for God's divine
intervention and healing and strength. Both mother and daughter are prospective members
regularly attending United for the last two years.
Prayer Request Update
from Herb Teitgen - 8/17/01
Your continued
prayers are requested for Richard Whitehead of the Omaha, NE congregation. He is
recovering slowly from his liver transplant surgery. The liver seems fine and there is not
any unusual rejection according to the doctors and from the tests they have done. However,
he is not gaining his strength and gaining weight like he should. The digestion system and
organs are not responding properly, possibly because of the prolonged state of liver
malfunction before the operation. Please pray that his body will normalize in the
digestion and organ functioning and that he will have a normal strength and weight gain.
Richard had another traumatic and very painful experience this week. During the liver
transplant operation, several hernias were also repaired. Yesterday (Wednesday, August 15)
he experienced a tearing or ripping sensation in the groin area. One of the hernia repairs
failed. A bulge suddenly appeared and quickly swelled to a very large size. There was an
agonizing pain and his wife Margie had to rush him to the University Hospital again amidst
severe vomiting by Richard. It was almost unbearable. He was operated on last night and is
resting well now. They expect him to be discharged in a couple of days if all goes well.
Please pray for a complete recovery and healing over of the herniated areas.
They both wanted to express their heartfelt and grateful thanks for the many cards and the
kind and encouraging messages within them. They have been vital in keeping them hopeful
and lifting their spirits during these difficult trials. Thanks for your love and
prayers.

Lola Bailey, a widow
in the Bend church area found out today that she has cancer in her right lung. It is
covering the openings of two of the three tubes that supply air to her lung. The doctor
thinks it is operable. Surgery plans are still pending. Lola would appreciate prayers for
healing. She lives 130 miles from services and has been unable to attend due to health
problems. She has an adult son in the same town who is legally blind.
Her address is: 122 E. Madison, Burns, OR 97720.

Bev Little is very
weak. She has to have dialysis 3-4 days per week now. The dialysis really is exhausting
for her. They will send her home from the hospital Monday August 13 (to continue local
dialysis). The doctors are only giving her a limited time. She has elected not to take the
chemo, which was the doctors last option. The lymphoma continues to progress. Her husband
Don is recovering nicely from an infection of the prostate and surgery to remove the
infected area. Please pray for them both. They both need strength, courage, and healing.
Prayer Request Update
from the Home Office - 8/9/01
As you know, Lisa
Fenchel has been battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma since April. As we reported in our last
update, the CT scans of her chest and liver (after her third chemo treatment) showed no
signs of cancer. That was great news, and great progress. However, there was no CT scan
done on her left shoulder, which originally had also showed cancer. On Monday, Lisa had an
MRI done on that shoulder, and it did show cancer/tumor invading the bone. This does not
mean it is bone cancer, but rather that the lymphoma has penetrated the bone. Obviously
this is not good news, so we would like to ask you to pray specifically that this area is
completely healed as well.
The "positive" news about her shoulder is that Lisa has had less pain and
reduced swelling in the shoulder since the start of her treatment. Also, the LDH level in
her blood continues to be within the normal range, which would generally indicate a lack
of tumor
growth. Her bone-marrow test several weeks ago showed no cancer in the marrow. But the
fact that there is obviously some type of cancer in her shoulder is a significant concern.
Lisa will meet with an orthopedic oncologist at the University of Cincinnati to determine
exactly what is happening in her shoulder.
Today, Lisa went in for her sixth treatment of CHOP + Rituxan. Overall, she has been
handling the treatments very well. Your continued prayers for courage, hope and faith --
and healing -- would be very much appreciated. Cards and letters can be sent to:
Lisa Fenchel, 1175 McKinley Court, Batavia, OH 45103
Prayer Request Update
from David Johnson - 8/9/01
A few months ago we
requested prayers for a widow in Paducah, Mrs. Ruth Prince, who was diagnosed with
lymphatic cancer. Mrs. Prince finished a course of chemotherapy a couple of weeks ago and
her latest CAT scan has shown there are no signs of any tumors remaining. Her blood counts
are rising and she is gradually regaining her strength. She has been able to return to
services and hopes to be able to attend the Feast this year as well.
Her husband died one year ago this week, and the added stress of the cancer made this a
very difficult year. She and her family wanted to express their thanks to everyone for the
cards, letters, calls, and most of all the prayers that have sustained her through this
difficult time. Mrs. Ruth Prince, 226 Atlanta Street, Paducah, KY 42003
Prayer Request Update
from Frank McCrady III - 8/2/01
Vicki Wagle has reported that her surgery went well. They did
a mastectomy on one side and took out three lymph nodes. The good news was that the lymph
nodes were NOT cancerous! Vicki saw the doctor last Friday and was told she was in stage
one and would not have to have any radiation or heavy chemotherapy. She is to see an
oncologist on August 8th to see what further testing, if any, needs to be done. There
could be some chemo and/or hormone therapy for awhile.

bottom of my heart for all of theirs." Her address is: Vickie Wagle, 6844
