Saturday
night, March 10th we (finally!) had the Winter Social a.k.a 'The Big Bonfire' at Morris
& Linda Foster's. The weather was perfect: dry! and cool enough to drive
everyone to the bonfire. The women in the church provided delicious chili &
chips, and we enjoyed S'mores by the little bonfire later in the evening. There was plenty to entertain everyone:
singing and strumming around the bonfire, hayrides, and even a kiddy train ride.
Here are a few pictures from the evening: |
After
the chili supper, we gathered around the campfire, & the singing . . . |
&
the strumming started with a big bang (and a big match). |

Believe
it or not, this group went strong all evening (maybe it was the peanuts?). . . |

The
bonfire was the popular gathering spot, especially as the evening (and our tongues)
cooled. |

Terrie
& Scott Hammer enjoy the cool temperatures and the warm bonfire. |

An up
close picture of the bonfire, which was about 15' across before we lit the torch. |

Sarah
Baker, Harriet Walding, Nancy Worthen & Ann Wilson discussing an upcoming holy day
service project. |

The
biggest hit of the evening for the young kids was the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' look-a-like
train. The kids filled the cars before the driver even showed up to start, and they
kept him busy most of the evening.

The
hayride wagon fills up for another adventurous tour around the Foster place. |
One of
the big highlights of the evening was the deluxe portable potties. Mr. Hegna even
offered personal guided tours (by request), but take a look for yourself if you missed out
at the social. |
